Driving Lesson Number 28.
Well against all odds, we managed to get out for a lesson today after all! Woohoo!
Now after only having 2 lessons in the Yaris and then having a 2 week break, I thought I'd be back to square one and mess up for the WHOLE hour! How very, very wrong was I...
Not only did I click with the car, I think I drove the best I ever have to date!!
First it was off to the test centre where we did a couple of bay parks, though admittedly I did mess it up first time and ended up skewiff!
Next it was off to Westfield for some parallel parks... Hhmmm... Now you'll know I'm not the best at that manouvre but I managed to keep it together, almost! The first few attempts were a bit hit and miss and I ended up messing them up as I was getting straight because I left it too late! Once I got the hang of it though, I managed 2 rather good ones but was quite close to the kerb! My instructor actually said that he could've quite literally fitted a sheet of paper between the car and the kerb but that would've been it!! I reckon that's kinda good actually, but maybe not if I'd hit the kerb and failed!
We drove round a few times and found various cars to practice next to, then headed back down towards town and over the Matalan roundabout, which I didn't panic about or anything!! I did go a bit wrong at the TA traffic lights though and ended up sitting trying to find the bite before releasing the handbrake because the lights changed too soon for me!
We headed up through Salterbeck, then round onto Westfield and down onto Banklands for a few more practices then it was time to head home. We had to take a different route though because there's a diversion in place at the moment, but it meant that I could do a parallel park outside my neighbours house and my husband wasn't even watching!! I was most upset about that coz it was brilliant!! :-(
Anyway, it's up to 1 1/2 hours from next week so I'll be changing the titles of each entry and giving it a real good go to be somewhere near ready for my test before Christmas!
